the need to run

your big smile
on that picture
reminds me of the man I used to be

the skin around your eyes
wasn’t that wrinkled,
but in your eyes I can still see

the green hills of Kentucky
and the air,
I’ve never had inside

the need to run
before the sun
comes up, I see it in your smile

[Chrous line]

your voice I can’t remember
but your writing
always stayed with me

‘cause I kept every letter
every picture
always here

and even though we seldom talk
I wonder what would be to walk
besides you, towards the sunset,
one of these days

the need to run
before the sun
comes up, I want that every day

[Chrous line]

and every picture I see now
it’s like a new chapter
in history

and ever song I hear around
just tells me that
I need you here

and even though we seldom talk
I wonder what would be to walk
besides you, towards the sunset,
one of these days

the need to run
before the sun
comes up, I want that every day
